Cycling for a Cause!

AtHome America HomeTeam and HomeStyle Specialists
participated in the Tri-State Trek.
On July 20-22, 2007, cyclists from across the country came together for the fifth annual Tri-State Trek. This event takes cyclists on a three-day, 270-mile bike ride from Boston to New York, across some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain in the Northeast. This grass-roots fundraising event benefits research to find a treatment and cure for ALS.
Each cyclist paid a $150 registration fee and committed to fundraising at least $1650. There were 10 members riding on behalf of AtHome America's Hope 4 Mike Team, with many supporters cheering them on. Collectively, they raised more than $50,000! Hope 4 Mike was created in support of Mike Wright, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2003. He is the husband of AtHome America's co-founder and CEO, Becky.
Kendall Brandau, AtHome America Home Team member, from Alsip, Illinois, along with her sister and brother-in-law, Jordan and Justin Roozeboom, participated in the 2007 Tri-State Trek.
“The Tri-State Trek was one of the most challenging experiences I have ever endured in my entire life,” says Kendall. “With every pedal I took, I felt like I was really making a difference.”
Kendall is the niece of Mike Wright, and credits him with the inspiration and motivation to participate in the Tri-State Trek.
“When there was a really tough hill and I felt like I couldn't go anymore, I just thought about my uncle,” she explains. “His positive attitude and strength to battle this disease head-on helped me every mile!”
AtHome America was a proud sponsor of the 2007 Tri-State Trek! Their $20,000 donation went toward making the event a success by providing T-shirts, meals and other personal necessities. All donations go to Tri-State Trek/Therapy Development Foundation.
Founded in 1999, the ALS Therapy Development Foundation (ALS TDF) is a nonprofit biotechnology company devoted to discovering treatments for patients with ALS. They built an in-house research program that combines the power of a nonprofit mission with the best practices of a for-profit biotechnology company.
