2008 H.O.P.E. Award Winner

Mike Wright, Pat Dempsey, and Becky Wright

Each year, the H.O.P.E. Award, Helping Others through Personal Example, is presented by AtHome America co-founders and sisters, Lisa Brandau and Becky Wright at the company’s national convention, called Salute. The convention is for the HomeStyle Specialist, or the independent contracts, who sell our HomeWares.

The award is given to a very deserving individual who works to raise funds and awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

This year’s award was presented to Pat Dempsey, HomeStyle Specialist from Raleigh, North Carolina. For the past four years, Pat has given many hours of her time to preparing and participating in the Tri State Trek, a three-day, 270-mile bike ride from Boston to New York, which raises funds to help find a cure for ALS.

“I was so very surprised to receive this honor! After being a part of AtHome America for more than 17 years and getting the opportunity to know Becky and Mike Wright, how could you not do everything in your power to get the word out about Lou Gehrig’s disease, and how it has affected our lives because of knowing these two wonderful people!!!” says Pat.

“Knowing Mike Wright has been a blessing beyond measure and an inspiration. Seeing how this family deals with this horrible disease is such a testimony to others, not just in our company, but to the many who watch from afar!!!” she continues. “Their faith in God and their HOPE for a cure gives others the courage to stand up and WANT to make a difference! I encourage everyone to what they can. Every bit counts — no matter how small you may think your role is. It all makes a HUGE difference for Mike Wright. He is a very humble man, but I know him well enough to know how special each small gesture is to him! We will find a CURE!!!”
