To Our Dear Family and Friends,

Let me begin this letter with my sincere apologies for not writing to you sooner. In what follows, I will try to explain the reasons for this delay in the latest chapter in the lives of the Wright family! I can hardly believe that we are already well into the month of December! How time does fly!

Back in September, I started having some very minor lower back problems. One thing led to another, and soon the situation turned into a series of serious events that to this moment, has me in a hospital bed recovering at home.

Throughout the month of October I had three back surgeries, a serious infection and well, I guess you could say I've had just about every complication that could have been possible. I spent a few days in intensive care, which I must say was pretty scary! But, THANK THE LORD, I came back home during the second week of November. You can't possibly imagine how thankful I was to be back in my own house surrounded by my wonderful, loving family. A very famous “Dorothy” couldn't have expressed my feelings better than when she stated, “There's no place like home!”

Needless to say, this has been a very difficult couple of months for our family. As my healing process evolves (and at a very slow pace, I might add), I continue to get stronger and look for small successes to measure my recovery.

For those of you who have been involved and supportive throughout our fight with ALS for the past few years, you have come to expect a letter of thanks from me following our annual walk. While I do thank you ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, Mike also wanted to personally write a special “thank you” this year, which is enclosed.

As for me, I simply ask for your continued love and prayers. I do believe in my heart and soul that your support and prayers are the VERY reason Mike continues to stay strong and gives us HOPE!

Sitting in my bed these many weeks, I have had much time to ponder and think deep thoughts. I have come to understand what it means and how it feels to be physically challenged. I have learned to appreciate “the little things” even more!

May you all have a joyful and blessed holiday season, and love and appreciate each other!!!

With Love and Blessings,

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
